32 Degrees hits Rocklin before summer

32 Degrees Ice Shavery and Teas is scheduled to open in Rocklin April 18. As a new dessert restaurant,  32 Degrees offers a selection of honey toast, shaved snow, milkshakes and even boba teas.

Manager Minh Hoang believes that the business has potential to do well in a new location.

“I have a lot of hope that we’re going to do well. Iit is a nice community up here, and I think we will find good business,” Hoang said.

The menu features Taiwanese desserts, but a special focus is on the shaved snow.

“Shaved snow is different from shaved ice. Shaved snow originated from Taiwan, and is carved out of an ice block, but is much lighter and fluffier than shaved ice. It’s almost like ice cream, but a bit lighter,” Hoang said.

32 Degrees will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday through Sunday. The grand opening on April 18 is going to have some special flair.

“We’re going to be giving out free shaved snow and boba from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and the rest of the day will be buy one get one free,” Hoang said.

32 Degrees is located at 2164 Sunset Boulevard, by Don Quixote’s and Little Caesars.

Prices for shaved snow and other desserts are in the price range of $3-5, with the more gourmet shaved snow dessert options reaching about $7 with the honey toast included.

“I’m looking forward to a new place like this, unique dessert places are always a fresh break when it comes to restaurants in Rocklin,” Micaela Harris said.
