Just as the league playoffs are rolling around, the men’s varsity volleyball team got some sudden news: their head coach Kristen Parker would not be coaching them for the rest of the season.

Mrs. Parker has an autoimmune disorder that disabled her from coaching or teaching for the rest of the year.

“I was shocked since she was such a big part of our team and I am extremely sad,” Conner Gaspar said.

Since the team experienced this in the later part of the season, many seniors are taking a leadership role as a result of their coach’s absence.

“All of the seniors have risen up and taken charge to make this season memorable,” Will Bebinger said.

Luckily, the former volleyball coach Erich Means stepped in to help the team toward their championship aspirations. Coach Means is still trying to learn the system and the positions of the people that can make an impact. As the preceder to coach Parker, Mr. Means knows the game of volleyball and how to instruct it.

“[Coach Mean’s] style is different so its a little challenging, but he knows what he is talking about.” Wyatt Bolan said.

With this transition of instruction, the team hopes to continue winning despite the loss of coach Parker.
