Rita’s Ice Custard serves variety of frozen desserts


Rita’s Ice Custard, a dessert shop in Rock Creek Plaza, is a franchise that opened its first Rocklin location Nov. 7. with a soft opening and hosted its grand opening event Dec. 5.

Lexi Davoulas is in the first cycle of employees to work at the Rocklin Rita’s location.

“I’ve been working at Rita’s since we first opened and we’ve been open for about a month now. Because this was our first Rita’s around Rocklin, I was the first to be hired before we opened. We had corporate training, which is where licensed trainers came out. They stayed for about a week trained us how to serve, speak appropriately to our customer and then of course how to make all of Rita’s must-have’s. It was all a very complex and great experience,” Davoulas said.

Davoulas has tasted most of the flavors of Italian ice and custard served at Rita’s.

“My favorite flavor of ice is probably peanut butter marshmallow custard. It’s so good, I could eat it all day. Then there’s my other favorite which is vanilla custard with rainbow sprinkles,” Davoulas said.

Whitney High Student Media took to evaluating the shop by visiting Dec. 3 and sampling more than 20 different frozen concoctions while reviewing the atmosphere and service.

Lindsay Lucas said, “I thought the service was really nice considering, [Lexi] was very cheery and personable. Rita’s was inviting and happy.”
