Phase one of the new Quarry Park is now open and ready to serve the community. Quarry park is a project conducted by the City of Rocklin, and consists of multiple phases that will take 3-5 years to be completed. Phase one includes an amphitheater that seats 1,000, and is expected to be used in the months of April to September, hosting concerts with artists like James Bay and The Marshall Tucker Band. Officials expect the $3 million project to boost the local economy, and want the venue to serve as an educational and beautiful gathering spot to residents and tourists.

According to the City of Rocklin website: “Quarry Park will be the central gathering place. A place for community events, quiet walks through nature and active play. Some elements in the Quarry District have been around a long time. Some are evolving. Still others are waiting to be created and discovered. The Quarry District, like Rocklin’s history, is made up of many stories and experiences.”

This new element into the City as well as future projects will create a downtown area for the community to enjoy. Local businesses and restaurants will surround the new downtown area where visitors can appreciate the food and natural aspects of the city.

The park however was originally scheduled to open in February 2015

“The dates were never set in stone. Budgeting and funding can become an issue and building could take longer than expected,” said Joe Fielder, a construction worker on the sight of the new amphitheater.

Although opening late, students are excited to explore the new area.

“Rocklin doesn’t really have a gathering for families or students, so this is pretty cool. When I heard about the concerts I looked up tickets, but they were sold out,” Matt Carr said.

The Quarry Park amphitheater is booked from April through September 2016. Upcoming events range from $40 to $80 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.
