‘Insidious 4 The Last Key’

Insidious 4 The Last Key

The movie “Insidious 4” was the movie I chose to review. The release date was supposed to be released on Oct 20, 2017 but got pushed back to Jan 5, 2018.  The movie has a horror, thriller, and mystery genre plot. It is rated PG-13 with a run time of 1 hour and 43 minutes with a rate from rotten tomatoes of 33%. Being the final movie it made $164.5 million in the box office.

“Insidious 4” was directed by Adam Robitel who directed movies from the X-men and paranormal activity series. The main actors of the movie were Lin Shaye (Elise Rainier), Leigh Whannell (Specs), and Angus Sampson (Tucker), basically Elise and her crew of paranormal activity experts. The time periods of the movie were in the 1950s and around the 1970s-1980s.The movie is about the main character Elise and how she receives complaints about paranormal activity in the house she lived in during her childhood, she then goes back to set things right and destroy the demon she released when she was younger.

Possibly being the last movie of the Insidious series it was a great end to the franchise despite rumors of a fifth movie. The set design of the movie was truly amazing with designers making the house look neglected and old. Many scenes in the movie had bizarre backgrounds/settings.

After watching the movie I was content with the way that the series of Insidious ended, with a grand finale of the main character’s life and memories. I personally thought the movie was well composed to keep viewers’ wanting to watch more with a good plot and development of the story. For example they showed this by showing the first part of when Elise Rainier first started interacting with spirits and how her communication with them grew. I would recommend watching it after watching all the previous movies so you know the background of Elise and her experiences.
