Girls’ JV Volleyball

Bump. Set. Spike. That’s what the girls’ JV volleyball team had to do.

On Sept. 19, the team became champions when they fought to victory in a Bella Vista volleyball tournament. They battled six different teams including Mira Loma, Forest Hill, Woodland, and Bear River. Each match consisted of two games, making it a long day for the girls.  In fact, the tournament went on for 12 hours.

“It was awesome because we kept winning,” sophomore Nichole Browning said.

Throughout the day, the volleyball team was victorious. It was win after win after win, until they met up with Bear River. The rival claimed a win with a score of 25-23. The players knew they had to win the next game in order to keep their status of first place.

“I was thinking we better win by three, but it was actually four,” Sophomore Jessie North said.

So that’s what they did. They fought their way to victory by claiming a score of 25- 21. Their four point lead over Bear River, and their winning streak for the rest of the day led them to achieving first place and becoming champions.

The girls’ team played a total of 12 games and proved themselves as champions. This tournament win is a promising start to the season. The team’s next match is at El Dorado on Oct. 15.
