Every blow lands audiences closer to the edge of their seats in the inspiring drama, CREED.

The film picks up years after the formidable Rocky franchise with a new face to the boxing world, Adonis Johnson(Michael B. Jordan). Adonis is an excellently designed character, being the estranged son of Rocky’s greatest rival, Apollo Creed. Apollo died in the ring after having an affair with another woman, thus creating Adonis, someone who struggles to find his identity throughout the whole story. Handed down the luxuriant life of his famed father, he turns down his promising office job and fancy home for the grit, grime and glory of boxing. Eventually he seeks the help of the legend, Rocky(Sylvester Stallone) and Adonis and him begin a whole new fight – in and out of the ring.

For those whose hearts remain loyal to the original Rocky movies, CREED delivers just the right amount of nostalgic memories and iconic moments while keeping the new story fresh and exciting. If you remember those inspirational training scenes in Rocky, you’ll definitely find them in Creed. Within the whole movie, Adonis is walking the same path that Rocky did, training at Mickey’s Gym, eating gross breakfasts, and ultimately jogging up the steps of glory as an underdog. The Rocky reboot wasn’t just some cheap movie about throwing punches and getting glory, it actually had meaning behind it.

Audiences will be deeply connected to the characters as they develop through the story. With the incredible acting talents of Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan, I was drawn into the intensity of the film, and eventually found myself passionately rooting for Adonis the whole way.

As for the fight scenes, they are insanely choreographed. From lightning jabs quicker than the eye can see, to devastating knockouts you won’t even see coming. According to elitedaily.com, Jordan had an incredible diet and workout plan just to perform at a top notch level during the scripted fights. The workouts included cardio, like jumping rope, 900 pound leg pushes, studying, training, and fighting with actual fighters like Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan, and simple, everyday push-ups. He also started his mornings off with 4 eggs, grits, and turkey sausage along with other things like lots of vegetables and carbs from things like shakes, steaks, and asparagus.

This movie is already making much moola in the box office, surprising all who come to see it. And don’t worry, rumor has it that a second Creed movie is already in the works.
