Q: When did you start cheer? Why?

A: I started cheer in middle school which was in seventh grade. I started it just to see what kind of sport it was as some people consider it as a sport and others don’t. But I feel like cheer is a nice thing to do because you team bond with many girls, as well as you interact with other people, and you cheer for football players.

Q: Describe your position and how you got into it.

A: I was usually base in middle school, but recently they put me as a backspot because I’m taller. They usually have shorter people be bases so the backspot can pull up more weight.

Q: What has been your best experience in cheer?

A: My best experience is when we go camping. This year we went to South Lake Tahoe, and we went to this hotel to do a competition against Rocklin and many other schools and it was a very fun experience. Even though we had to be focused on the competition, we had some down time to be with our friends.

Q: What is your worst experience with cheer?

A: My coach put me as a backspot because I was taller and I had no idea how to be a backspot, so when we tossed the flyer up, I didn’t know what to do, and then she fell right into my ankle and it twisted. It was fun.

Q: Last week at the varsity football game the music stopped. Are there usually complications in games or performances? How do you solve them?

A: Usually the music stops. We don’t have a resolution for that; we just plan that if the music stops we will continue with the count sequence.

Q: Who inspires you to be better or work hard?

A: The person that inspires me to work hard is my mom, because when she was younger, she had difficult times. She was studying and working two jobs or she sometimes couldn’t even sleep because she had to study and she has very dedicated and I wanna be as dedicated as her because I don’t have those problems, and I know that I can work hard to achieve my goals.
