Women’s water polo practices pushed to mornings to accomadate late start times
On Sept. 13, Jacelyn Yeh practices an offense drill in which she and her partner, Rebecca Rau, periodically switch off to hone their attacking skills. “This sport is awesome because we’re a family. It’s more than just playing a sport or a regular school experience,” Yeh said. Photo by Isabella Tomasini
With the passing of SB 328, students all over California have had their daily routines shifted one hour back. One hour more of sleep means release from school is one hour later, leaving student athletes to adjust to new practice times.
Both the varsity and JV women’s water polo teams have adapted their practices to accommodate the 3:40 p.m. release, creating a new practice schedule from 6:25 to 8 a.m. So far in the season, the women’s varsity team has won one game and lost two, and the women’s JV team has lost one game and won one game.
