After years of practices, games and long hours, 19 athletes accept offers to continue their athletic and academic career at their desired colleges.`
Signing Day serves as an opportunity for athletes who will continue to play their sport at the college level to be recognized by their peers and families during a ceremony led by Athletic Director Mr. Erich Means.
“Signing Day is a time for those athletes that have put in the time and energy over the course of their athletic career to be celebrated,” Means said. “It is to recognize the work that allowed them the opportunity to play at the next level since that doesn’t happen for everyone. That is what makes it a special moment for them.”
One of the athletes honored at the lunchtime ceremony, Aaron Humphries will continue to run cross country at Hawaii Pacific University.
“It’s so exciting to be committed to my college for my sport and I’m really looking forward to the experience,” Humphries said. “I’m in love with running, so being able to do it at a collegiate level is surreal. After a long recruiting process it feels like I finally have everything laid out for me and I just can’t sit back and look forward to it now.”
