‘Midnight Memories’ will easily be forgotten

One Direction is back with their third album, “Midnight Memories.” The album runs for almost an hour which is an hour too long.

Although they kept their trademark love songs, they ditched the slow pace and added stronger instruments for an equally popular album with a more pop-rock sound, more like Lorde’s “Pure Heroine.” Their album, which get more cheesy and demeaning as it goes on, is more energetic and includes beats that preteens can have fun jumping around and dancing to.

Their third album features creative songs, such as “Better Than Words” composed entirely of song titles, and in “Something Great” One Direction sounds more electronic-pop like “Team” by Lorde.

These once-young men have grown up, and their music has matured with hints of curse words, such as in the song “Midnight Memories.” The album features less adolescent aimed songs, but their views on love are still flawed and childish sounding.

This latest chart-topping album is worth listening to, however there are only a few songs that are actually worth purchasing, if you’re into boy bands.
