The six warriors are back once again after a six month hiatus. B.A.P, a South Korean hip-hop group, has come back with their first full album released on Feb.3, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The boys moved away from their strong hip-hop songs into more mellow and sweet R&B songs. ”First Sensibility” is one album that you really don’t want to miss whether you are a B.A.P fan or not.

B.A.P’s leader Bang Yong Guk hinted the songs that will be released in the album through his Twitter account, with their last album being “Badman” in August fans were eager to listen to this album. The songs in this album are much more sweeter and talk more about love and relationships, which is different from their harsh hip-hop lyrics in previous albums like “Power”, “Warrior” and “Badman”.

The album consists of 13 songs with a running time of 35:44 and is $9.99 on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/first-sensibility/id813377586). There is a wide variety in the songs from “Easy” which is more jazzy to “Lovesick” which is more upbeat. My favorites would have to be their title song “1004(Angel)”, “Lovesick” and “S.N.S”. The intro for “1004(Angel)” starts off the song really well; lead vocal Daehyun’s smooth voice and the guitar create a beautiful harmony that immediately caught my attention. “Lovesick” also starts off really smooth with a piano intro, but as the song goes on the song starts to get more upbeat. Once you get to the chorus Daehyun and Youngjae hit the high notes at the perfect pitch making “Lovesick” the perfect love song. On the other hand “S.N.S” has techno qualities and sounds more like a song that you would hear at a club. “S.N.S” was similar to “Hurricane” in their previous album.

Overall the album had a variety of songs and would appeal to a large audience. “First Sensibility” also brought the boys first victory in various music programs like Inkigayo, Show Champion and Music Bank. This album was different from the typical ‘B.A.P’ style that Bang Yong Guk always talks about, but I think that the change was nice. B.A.P was always known for talking about controversial topics in their songs like criminals and crime in “Badman” to standing up against society in “Warrior”. I feel that “First Sensibility” was an album that gave the boys a chance to express their sentimental side.

Even though this is much different from the boys typical style of music, I feel that this album was successful in expressing another side to B.A.P.  I am really not into slow jazzy R&B songs but this album really got me starting to like R&B and I feel that this song really increased their fan base. If you really like Frank Ocean’s music style and isn’t afraid of trying something new B.A.P will definitely be your cup of tea.
