Salute to Little Mix’s new album “Salute.” Songs, such as “Move,” have been available since the band of girls performed them on XFactor on Dec. 6, 2013, however the full album was released on Feb. 4 on American iTunes. The album’s sound has a very pop/hip-hop sound, like the kind of music you should definitely buy for a sleepover or a night on the town.

Before the album was released in America, it was published in the United Kingdom. Since “Salute” was out in other countries, the songs were available to watch on Youtube. Little Mix have already released two official music videos off of songs on their “Salute” album: “Move” and “Little Me.”

The music on the album has a lot of relatable music for teenage girls, being about boy problems, standing alone and heartbreak. The album as a whole includes a lot of songs of women empowerment. “Salute,” “Stand Down” and “See Me Now” are all about supporting yourself and doing it on your own. This sends a really good message to younger girls going through a hard time as well as gives them a really good beat to dance along to.

Although a few songs, like “Competition”, sound like a post-puberty Cheetah Girl remix, the majority of the album is uniquely Little Mix.  The girls really do a nice job putting their own spin on the pop/hiphop genre.

A lot of the songs, “Salute” for example, start with a faster beat, slow down, and then pick back up at the end. Their voices all blend very well into harmonies and they take advantage of that in their slower songs, such as “Towers.” The harmonies are beautifully done and are subtly placed into the music.

The album comes in two forms; a normal version and a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition includes three more songs than the normal, which only has 13 songs. “They Just Don’t Know You,” “Stand Down” and “Little Me Unplugged” are only available through the deluxe album. Going with the deluxe version is definitely the better option.
