“American Horror Story” is a wildly popular show that airs on FOX that intrigues fans all over the country. The series is based on fantasy horror situations that happens to a certain group of people. So far there have three seasons; ‘Murder House’,’Asylum’, and ‘Coven’. In each season there is a completely different concept and storyline but they use the same cast.

Season one, “Murder House” was about the Harmon  family who was trying get a new beginning, so they move from Los Angeles to Boston and try to restart their lives. The house they move into  that has a long and dark history that the Harmon’s did not know about prior to moving into the house.

Season two, “Asylum” is set at the bone-chilling Briarcliff Mental Institution for the criminally insane. The secretive and strict nuns and doctors run the institution and the employees try to keep the not-so insane patients, Kit Walker, and Lana Winters in the asylum for acts that they did not do. But the secrets hidden in Briarcliff will soon be revealed thanks to the headstrong patients.

The third and most recent season of American Horror Story,”Coven” that premiered on October 10th, 2013, is about a group of female witches who are trying to figure out which one of them is the “Supreme”. The supreme is the master of all the witches and has the most power out of all the witches in the world.  All the witches want to be the Supreme, because it gives them the chance to have great power and get the chance to do whatever they want with their magic.

Each witch has their own unique power to become a human voodoo doll (the ability to transfer self-inflicted wounds and the pain associated with them to another person), mind reader (able to utilize a variety of telepathic and precognitive powers) and black widow (the ability to cause violent, nearly instantaneous death by engaging in intercourse). To be the Supreme you also have to have to be able to perform the seven wonders (Telekinesis, Divination, Transmutation, Pyrokinesis, Concilium, Descensum and Vitalum Vitalis) which are a separate set of magic skills.

The series just aired the season finale of the third season. In this episode we find out who the Supreme is. In the beginning of the episode is when the race starts. Each witch is required to complete the all of the seven wonders successfully in order to qualify to be the supreme. Throughout the episode, one by one, the witches are getting taken out of the competition for their lack of skills, but they bring a surprise character into the race, and I thought that made the episode a lot more suspenseful and exciting.

Out of the three seasons, I believe this finale was by far the best. The other seasons ended with a cliffhangers, obviously making me very furious. “Coven” has the happiest and most reasonable ending, we find out who the supreme is, plus my favorite character doesn’t die, making me super happy. In this episode specifically, there is a lot of emotion, which I think makes the show more interesting because it makes the viewers feel more connected with the characters.

In all, I found the finale of “Coven” scaringly amazing. I hope the next season of American Horror Story coming out in October  2014 will be as great as “Coven” was.
