“X-Men Days of the Future Past” is not your ordinary film. Sure, it had action, and it had some comedy and Jennifer Lawrence, but it was so much more than that. It made you think about the X-Men timeline and how everything really pieces together.

The future has become a dark place where the mutants and the humans who tried to help them are trapped in jails with their powers stripped from them. Only a handful of mutants remain and they decide to send Wolverine back into the past to change their future.

The whole movie has twists and turns, and with such a complex plot, zoning out isn’t an option — not that you would want to. With the amazing cast, including Michael Fassbender, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry and Nicholas Hoult, which just brings the whole story full circle.

Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique has done an amazing job bringing her to life with her emotions. Quicksilver was by far the best character, though, his quick and witty remarks a constant source of laughter. He provided a fantastic form of comedic relief.

James McAvoy was perfect, setting the whole scene perfectly as Xavier and you could feel his pain flowing off of the screen. Wolverine was perfect, as always; Hugh Jackman really brings him to life knowing his character thoroughly. But watch out for his backside, which appears within the first few minutes of the film.

All the new “Future” characters were fantastic as well. Their passion for survival was brought into the theater as everyone could feel the need for them to move quickly and to survive. They created such an emotional attachment that it made your heart break when they died multiple times.

The soundtrack was perfectly arranged to fit the movie. John Ottman truly has written the music for this film flawlessly. Hope, the most popular of the soundtrack, is arranged to fit how Xavier is feeling just adding significantly to the film. He shows you the world of the future through sound, and amazingly accomplished this while being film editor.

As the world of the future is being created before your eyes, you realize how much it seems to foreshadow our own future as a human race. With war, self destruction, and turmoil, ultimately it seems like “Days of the Future Past” is a warning sign.

Despite having a few fails during his directing career like “X-Men Last Stand” and “Jack The Giant Slayer,” Bryan Singer has truly done justice to this film creating a masterpiece that every Marvel or X-Men fan will love. The next film, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” is expected to be just as good, if not better. Remember to stay to the end of the credits to see a sneak peak of the next movie.
