Homecoming victory against Oakmont, 41-6

The varsity football team got its first win of the season on Oct. 17 with a Homecoming victory 41-6 over Oakmont.

Oakmont kicked to start the game. No. 8 Devin Brocchini scored the first touchdown, 6-0.No. 6 Daniel Jones made a touchdown with 6:05 left in the first quarter, and the Wildcats finished with an extra point 13-0. No. 4 Jared Wilson made the last touchdown of the first quarter, making the score 20-4.

The Wildcats made the only touchdown in the second quarter, making the score 27-0.

No. 14 Tyrik Ceasar made the first touchdown of the third quarter. No. 5 Malachi Turner made the last of the Whitney touchdowns, which made the score 41-0.

Oakmont No. 9 made the last touchdown of the night, and finished the fourth quarter.

“I feel really good for the kids. They have been getting to listen to everyone being critical. I’m happy that they have something positive. [In practice we] just really focused on basic blocks and taking that away into the game,” head coach Mike Gimenez said.

From the crowd, Morgan Young thought the fans had a lot of spirit.

“It was amazing and so much fun. I’m so happy we won, it was exciting. The team played great,” Young said.

No. 64 Blake Garrett was proud of his team’s effort during the game.

“I felt like that’s how we should have played every game. We did good but we do need to get better because we had a lot of penalties,” Garrett said
The next game is on Oct. 24 at Roseville High.
