We all know that feeling when you’re laying in bed late at night and then all of a sudden you hear a noise and your mind travels you back to all those scary movies you have seen in the past, and now you’re laying there shaking in fear of something that can pop out and grab you, or if you hear one more eerie noise you will feel the need to turn on the lights. The movie “Annabelle” doesn’t have that effect on certain people.

The horror movie definitely had intense sequences of disturbing violent and terror, which describes why it is rated R. The director John R. Leonetti was very good at creating a thrilling feeling throughout the whole movie. These thrilling moments were adriliating to your body because the background music kept making it seem as if an object is going to pop out and scare you. This movie is about 99 minutes long and was released October 3, 2014 which was just in time for halloween scares. The movie “Annabelle” is about a new mother Mia Gordon (Annabelle Willis) and her husband John (Ward Horton) who was attacked by a cult, the killer had the doll in her hands as she died, and therefore the doll had a demon within it, and it wanted Mias soul.

The movie is so extremely suspenseful  towards the middle and end it can have you cuddling with the person next to you in fear, when nothing scary is even happening. This is the type of movie that can have you covering your ears and eyes and has you frightened and shaking in the moment. But on the other hand, it is not the type of movie where you go home and you are terrified of going upstairs alone, or being in the dark, or even shutting your eyes when you wash your face.

This movie was filled with thrilling scares and sensational screams because of the creepy background music and occasional pop outs, but the poor scripting of the movie ruined it. The scripting mainly causes a lot of confusion and frustration. During a horror movie you should be scared, but during  the beginning this movie you are trying to figure out what is happening  which doesn’t make it as scary because you are not as focused. This is not the type of movie that has you in awe and scared to be home alone. “Annabelle” could have been scarier if certain scenes were not so obviously unnatural. I wouldn’t recommend spending any money on going to see this movie.
