Track and field pick up wins as season continues
On March 18, the varsity and JV track and field team traveled to Antelope against Oakmont for their first league meet where they won.
“We’re the defending Division III champs, so we have fairly high standards and expectations. Of course, there are some considerations with regard to repeating last year’s season,” Coach Marc Condos said.
With almost 180 runners on track and many returning runners from previous years, most of the events are filled and the runners are ready to make a lasting impression.
Freshman Xzavier Caldwell, who is competing in the 4×1, 100 m, and shot put, is confident that the track team this year can achieve many awards.
“With all the top-notch athletes I see out here and with the help of our coaches, I’m expecting us to do very well from almost every aspect,” Caldwell said.
Returning varsity runner Savannah Hill, who competes in the 800m and the 4×4 relay said that with a new and harder league, the team will have to work their hardest to get a league title.
“I think we’ll have a really good team this year. Our league is way harder than it was last year so it’ll be tough to reach our goal for a league or section title,” Hill said.
The next varsity and JV track and field meet is April 8 at Ponderosa against Bella Vista at 3:30 p.m.

![On the stage, Daniel Bozinovski and Rachel Treto play their part as Tom and Hannah in the show “The Cast List”. The show was about a group of students who were told about their cast list for the play “Romeo and Juliet.” The Theater I students were in preparation for their first showcase of the year. Students went over their lines during all of their class for the past two months. “[We put in] a lot of rehearsal, practicing lines, making sure you have everything memorized and making sure you are ready to go in and not forget anything,” Nathan Weeks said.
