The new SBAC testing schedule will run April 19-29. The schedule will affect all grade levels for the first time.

Tuesday through Friday will only have three periods, rather than four, with the extra period rolling over to the next day, while Mondays will be a normal articulation schedule.

“We tried a different process last year, and juniors and sophomores that were testing were pulled out of classes and missed a lot of class time. This adjusted schedule meets the needs of the testing students and the teachers who want to have their students in class as much as possible,” assistant principal Jennifer Hanks said.

Over the next two weeks, juniors will be testing during their language arts and social science classes. The testing will take multiple periods to complete. However, sophomores will only test for one period in their science class.

Because the testing schedule is affecting all grade levels this year, seniors with off periods will have to work around the new schedule.

“In order for seniors to leave campus during their off periods, they will need to show their ID to the discipline tech that will be located by the attendance windows/parking lot. The discipline techs will have a list of all students who have an off period to help expedite checkout [but students must] must have their ID,” Hanks said.

If the off period is at the beginning or end of the day, checkout is not necessary. If students want to stay on campus, they must report to the cafeteria.

“As a parent, if you do not wish for your student to leave campus for a middle of the day off period, please [contact] us with your student’s name and we will make sure that they are not allowed to check out,” Hanks said.

Due to testing, the library will be closed to students and staff during class time Tuesday through Friday both weeks. Computer labs will be available to request, based on the specific SBAC bell schedule. However, the textbook window will remain open for fines, renewals and returns.
