With many sports Whitney High School has to offer like football, baseball, water polo, soccer, track and field and cross country, football and baseball are two of the top sports that high school can bring. With a freshman, JV and a varsity teams for baseball I did a Q&A on David Bruce who is a 9th grader who has finished his season.

Q:What did you like about baseball the most?

A: “What I liked about baseball the most is how the whole team including JV and varsity are closely connected.”

Q:How is high school baseball different from any other “little league” baseball team you have played for?

A: “Well, there is A LOT more pressure in high school baseball in the sense that there is a lot more weight put on your shoulders, especially if you’re a really good player.”

Q: How long have you been playing baseball? Why?

A: “I have been playing baseball for eight years and it all started when I was at a friend’s house. He showed me all his trophies and I thought I wanted those.”

Q: What position do you play?

A: ”I play third base and pitcher. When I play pitcher I feel really close to the game more than if I were playing outfield or shortstop.”

Q: What did you like most about going up against a big rival team?

A: ”When we went up against Rocklin it was really intense and fun because I know the other players on the team so I want to try and beat them. And in the end when you do beat them it feels real good.”
