Jolienne Heimbichner starts club on campus

From Drama Club to TOMS, the school is filled with a wide selection of clubs. Almost anyone would be able to find something suited for them and their personal interests.

This year, a completely new and out of the ordinary club has formed on campus: The Jolienne Club. The day of club rush, Jolienne Heimbichner sat on a school desk, holding her club sign in one hand, and a giant Sonic the Hedgehog doll in the other. It confused some and intrigued others.

The concept of the club is to celebrate Jolienne’s interests every week. To play video games, watch some of her favorite movies, eat snacks, and dress up.

“I started this club because I feel I’m awesome enough to have my own club,” Heimbichner said. “We usually play video games, but there are a lot of theme days.”

The day before Halloween, she hosted a Halloween party. And a few weeks ago, she hosted a Harry Potter-themed party. Everyone came dressed up as their favorite Harry Potter character. It was a chance for everyone to get together to gab about the movies and watch clips of Neil Cicierega’s Potter Puppet Pals on the classroom projector screen.

Harry Potter day was in honor of Bianca Bazzano, one of Heimbichner’s closest friends.

“She’s a huge Harry Potter fan,” Heimbichner said.

Daniel Minion, an avid participant in the club, dressed up as Harry himself for the theme day.

“I came to the club and dressed up today because I am Harry Potter,” Minion said.

Though many of the people who attend the club are friends of Jolienne, they welcome anyone who wants to join the party.

“This club is awesome. Best excuse to watch movies and play Xbox,” Minion said.

For anyone who loves movies, video games, and pop-culture references, this is not something you should miss. Jolienne invites you to experience what she calls the “magical stupendousness” of her club. So when you’re free on Fridays at lunch, follow the butterflies to F2.
