End of the Year rally honors Class of 2022

In the large gym, the End of the Year rally honors the senior graduates May 27. In comparison to the other rallies earlier this year, this one was a “true” rally with the whole school filled into the bleachers.

Themed as the “Inside Out” movie as the final aspect of Spirit Week, leadership students decorated the gym with colorful lights and paper lanterns, symbolizing the characters from the movie: Joy, Disgust, Sadness, Anger and Fear. In addition, freshman wore purple, sophomores wore green, juniors wore yellow and seniors wore blue underneath their graduation gowns.

In her role with leadership, Madelyn Wilk was one of the students tasked with planning the senior kick out rally.

“We were on more of a time crunch to plan this rally, but have had the theme picked out since 2020. It was so crazy to already be planning the senior kick out rally since this year flew by! I was in charge of planning the LTA’s and giveaways for [the spirit week] and helped with whatever else needed to be done for the rally itself,” Wilk said.

The rally’s activities included a game of musical chairs, performances from hip-hop and the cheer team, a slideshow including a variety of images during the senior’s four high school years and finally a senior kick out as a part of a farewell message.

Wilk also described her emotions as she watched the seniors leave the gym.

“It was so surreal to see the seniors leave, and I am so sad to see them go. My brother is a part of [this year’s] senior class and I was close with so many other seniors, as well. I have gotten to bond with them this year and can not imagine what things will be like without them,” Wilk said.

Seniors like Liz Foss marked the rally as a memorable moment as she looked back on her previous high school years.

“I liked the slideshow that had looked back on all of the fun memories from the beginning of the year. It was a cool experience, especially since it had been a while since I had experienced an indoor rally. I felt happy and sad at the same time because I will definitely miss my underclassmen friends, but I’m excited to see what this next chapter has in store for me as a senior graduating,” Foss said.
